ABOUT US

We're building the infrastructure that life sciences R&D has always needed.

Science Exchange was founded on a simple observation: the biggest bottleneck in life sciences R&D is not the science.
It is everything around it.

THE PROBLEM

Why we exist

Science Exchange began with a simple observation: some of the most advanced scientific organizations in the world were still operating on infrastructure that slowed them down. Research itself is inherently difficult. Coordinating the systems around it should not be.

When Science Exchange was founded in 2011, the initial goal was straightforward: help scientists find and access the external expertise they needed. The first product was a marketplace connecting researchers with scientific suppliers and service providers across a fragmented ecosystem.

But over time, a larger pattern emerged.

Finding the right partner was rarely the hardest part. The real barriers were everything that happened afterward: contracting, compliance reviews, onboarding, financial coordination, operational visibility. The infrastructure surrounding outsourced R&D had become fragmented, manual, and increasingly incompatible with the pace of modern science.
So Science Exchange evolved from a marketplace into something much larger: the operational infrastructure connecting organizations, suppliers, workflows, and data across the R&D ecosystem.

That evolution continues to shape everything we build today.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Science should never wait on administration.

This is the ethos we use to make product decisions, prioritize features, and evaluate whether we are doing our jobs.

Life sciences R&D is one of the most consequential fields on earth. The teams driving doing this work are among the most capable professionals in any industry. When progress is slowed by fragmented systems and operational complexity, the impact is real. Programs stall. Timelines slip. Patients wait longer for therapies that are already years in the making.

We believe the future of R&D will not be defined by individual organizations operating in silos, but by a global consortium, where biopharma companies, scientific suppliers, vendors and partners operate as part of a connected ecosystem. In that world, expertise is discoverable in real time, workflows move seamlessly across boundaries, and every interaction strengthens the collective intelligence of the ecosystem.

This is a structural shift in how science gets done. We exist because we believe building the infrastructure for this next era of science is one of the most important opportunities in the industry today.

Our Principles

laptop-icon

We build for how R&D actually works.
Not how procurement software assumes it works. Scientists, procurement teams, compliance officers, and finance all touch the supplier lifecycle. The platform has to serve all of them without making any of them do extra work.

supply-icon

We do not add complexity in the name of visibility.
Every feature has to reduce friction, not create a new dashboard to watch friction happen in real time.

team-icon

We fundamentally believe in the power of a strong procurement and R&D partnership.
When procurement infrastructure works, science moves. The two are not in conflict. Our platform is designed around that belief.

THE TEAM

Software experts with a deep passion to move science forward

The people who built Science Exchange came to the problem from different directions. Some from pharma operations. Some from academic research. Some from enterprise software. What they shared was a conviction that the infrastructure around life sciences R&D was holding back the science itself, and that building something better was worth the effort.

That conviction still drives the company. Every product decision, every feature, every integration is evaluated against a single question: does this get science moving faster?
