Signaling pathway analysis enables the study of specific signaling mechanisms of stimuli that can be either intrinsic or extrinsic or both, leading to alteration of cellular status. These pathways can be quite complex and often include convergence of multiple mechanisms of action. Assay endpoints are usually imaging or spectrophotometric (both colorimetric and fluorescence)-based. Identification and characterization of the various components of these pathways and their functions provide important information regarding the downstream cascade of events resulting from a stimulus, and the consequences of improper function.
