In vitro Immunotoxicity Testing
Immunotoxicity assays are tests carried out to find the effects of a particular therapeutic agent or drug entity on the function of the immune system. Many drugs are developed to suppress or activate different components of immune system. Common assays include human whole blood cytokine release, natural killer cytotoxicity, platelet function, delayed-type hypersensitivity, antibody dependent cell cytoxicity and vaccine testing. These assays are vital in preclinical and clinical studies. (Credit: Muhammad Atif Khan)
