Vala is a fast-growing San Diego-based biotechnology company serving academic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology scientists.
Vala Sciences’ Hardware, CyteSeer Automated Cell Image Analysis Software and Reagents enable information-rich measurements for making fundamentally new insights into the cell functions critical to progress in the biological sciences.
Uses the unique high-speed KIC imaging platform and state-of-the-art informatics to provide cell-level information for calcium transients in resting and electrically-stimulated iPS-derived cardiomyocytes.
Unlike other automated patch-clamp CardioTox platforms, which focus on one ion channel at a time e.g. hERG, ours is fully compatible with human iPS-derived cardiomyocytes enabling screens against a full complement of channels at physiological expression levels.

Vala offers customized high-content screening (HCS) services and automated CardioTox screening.
Over 100 fully-customizable HCS assays
Unique high-throughput CardioTox platform
Assays include Adipogenesis, Lipolysis, Stem cell differentiation,
Wound-healing, Mitochondrial health, Cadherins and Wnt signaling
Upto 130,000 wells per day throughput
Sample preparation, imaging, data analysis and reporting provided
Please contact us to learn more about our HCS assays and custom assay development services.
As part of our custom HCS services, we offer cell migration and wound-healing assays in a variety of cell types.
Cell types include but are not limited to; HeLa, 3T3, HUVEC, HMVEC, Neural Crest precursors, MCF7, SKOV-3, and MDA-MB-231.
The assays can be performed live to obtain speed and directional persistence measurements, or fixed to obtain migration rates and to probe specific pathways via antibodies. Combination assays can be performed whereby a live experiment is followed by a fixed endpoint analysis with corresponding data matching.
Our assays are fully scalable and performed in 384 well plates. Our formats include automated wound healing via a 384 tip device and use of commercially-available cell exclusion methods (e.g. Platypus Oris[TM]).
