The Center for Metabolomics and Mass Spectrometry provides routine analyses as well as specialty applications for Scripps Research and outside biotechnology communities with a wide variety of LC/MS approaches including ESI and MALDI as well as GC/MS approaches. The Center has several instruments available, including multiple Triple Quadeopoles, ESI TOF LC/MS, MALDI TOF, QTOF LC/MS, GC/MS, and LTQ Ion Traps. We analyze a wide variety of compounds including small molecules, peptides, polymers, carbohydrates, proteins and oligonucleotides. We offer ESI-TOF and MALDI-TOF analysis of intact proteins and Proteomics ID and PTM for characterization of digested proteins. Our routine analyses are primarily qualitative, giving chromatogram traces, ms spectra for all major peaks, and for some services a library search to help ascertain identity. If quantitative analysis is desired, standards of the compound(s) will need to be provided. **Recent Publications** - Montenegro-Burke J. R., Aisporna A. E., Benton H. Full Service Mass Spectrometry Analysis including Proteomics, Protein ID, LC/MS, GC/MS, MALDI-TOF, ESI-TOF, MS/MS, and custom methods. For specific inquires, please select the service that most matches your needs.
Metabolic Pathway Analysis
We offer two types of pathway analysis: Krebs Cycle (TCA) or Amino Acid analysis using Triple Quad MRM Technology. Please contact us to go over the details of your project.
ESI-TOF provides unit mass results in both positive or negative ionization modes. For a higher price, we also offer a High Accuracy/Small Molecule ESI-TOF service with mass errors of <5ppm. Results are typically available within 1 day of being recieved.
MALDI-TOF can provide up to unit mass results on a variety of compounds including peptides, small oligonucleotides, carbohydrates, proteins and polymers. Results are typically available within 1 day of being recieved.
GC/MS is best for compounds that easily vaporize and are kept in volatile solvents. Our routine analysis is a qualitative analysis, giving chromatogram traces, ms spectra for all major peaks, and a library search to help ascertain identity (your results can be compared to GC/MS data from the NIST database).
If quantitative analysis is desired, standards of the compound(s) will need to be provided.
We offer Intact Protein Analysis where we preform both MALDI-TOF and ESI-TOF. These analyses provide m/z data on intact proteins. If you require protein characterization information on digested proteins please select Proteomics. Intact protein results are typically available within 2 days of being recieved.
We offer a Proteomics ID service and a Post Translational Modification Identification service.
We are equipped to identify proteins using a procedure that includes digestion, nano-LC/MS/MS analysis and database searching.
We use our MS/MS technology to identify post translational modifications.
Protein digestion with trypsin is included with our Proteomics services cost. Please inquire about our Proteomics services for more details.
We offer custom LC-MS services in which you will be in close contact with a scientist at our facility to help achieve your goals. Method development time and sample preparation time charged separately.
We are equipped to prepare samples for Mass Spectrometry for our custom services. Costs will vary depending on the amount of preparation required.
We offer case by case custom work and method development where you will be in close contact with a scientist at our facility to help achieve your goals for services such as Quantitative LC/QQQ, RP-LC-QTOF and HILIC-LC-QTOF.
Please submit requests to our MALDI TOF MS service above. We offer MALDI TOF MS (Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry). MALDI-TOF can provide up to unit mass results on a variety of compounds including peptides, small oligonucleotides, carbohydrates, proteins and polymers.
Please submit all ESI requests to ESI-TOF-MS above.
