Senior Bioinformatician Ryan McLaughlin is a data scientist and self-taught programmer that specializes in bioinformatics analysis. McLaughlin works at the intersection of biology and computer science, where immense repositories of data have been accumulating. These data are not only growing at an exponential rate, but are also extremely complex, challenging researchers to build smart, efficient methods for analysis and interpretation.
McLaughlin has experience working with DNA and RNA sequencing data extracted from single organisms, host-associated microbiomes, and environmental samples. His skills include: organizing data, quality control, read annotation, post annotation analyses, and visualization production. His personal goal is to work with a diverse clientele interested in making use of sequence data for the purposes of exploring and understanding biological systems.
"Ryan was extremely helpful and diligent in working with us on bioinformatics analysis of 16-S meta-genomics human and mouse fecal samples for meta-abundance data. We have an extensive detailed bioinformatics analysis using QIIME procedure and inclusive analyses that is time consuming according to University of Pennsylvania Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia Microbiome Core protocol for additional downstream analyses. Ryan was easy to collaborate with meeting the UPenn requirements. Pam Shiao, PhD, Augusta University, College of Nursing and Medical College of Georgia"
