Most cereal grains and their products are handled in powder or solid form. Understanding the bulk characteristics of these granular materials is important to optimize machinery performance, packing characteristics, understand the physical and chemical variability (segregation) potential, and to deliver a uniform and safe product to the consumer. Dr. Ambrose's research focuses on the application of particle technology concepts in milling and processing of grains. Research areas include, milling technologies, process automation and simulation, development of bulk material handling techniques, and characterization of powders for their particle and flow characteristics.
