Welcome to the UAB-UCSD O'Brien Center for Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) Research, a George M.
O'Brien Kidney Research Center. Our center is supported by a P30 grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, the Division of Nephrology and the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, Division of Nephrology.
• Supports shared core facilities to enhance collaborations and further research understanding
• Fosters interactions among investigators from different backgrounds and disciplines who's shared interest is in kidney research
• Provide intellectual resources and infrastructure to attract new and established investigators to AKI research
Creatinine determination in serum/plasma/urine by isotope dilution LC-MS/MS
Creatinine is determined by state-of-the-art stable isotope dilution LC-MSMS on a Waters 2795 separations module (LC) and a Micromass Quattro Micro Triple Quad API (MS/MS).
Ten microliters of sample is the optimal amount for sample measurements but other sample amounts can be measured. Generally amounts as low as 5 microliters or less for urine and 5 microliters for serum/plasma can be measured accurately. Please see the sample requirements file attached.
The turn around time is two weeks for moderate sample sizes (100 or less) . Signicantly larger sample batches may add time to the turn around.
