We at Microbe Inotech Labs have been serving our customers since 1991. With over 100 cumulative years of experience we improvise practical solutions for our customers’ microbiological needs. We also operate a satellite lab 4 minutes from our main laboratory, which is known as the Helix Center Core Lab. It is within a pre-seed biotechnology business incubator (33,000 sq. ft.), the Helix Center, owned by the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership serving both the city and county.
We also own a 49% interest in an entreprenurial biotechnological startup company known as Microbe Scan LLC which is researching a laser-scatterimetry device for near real-time bacterial and protozoan population determinations as well as pathogen detection in either the lab or as a field deployable device,
Standard plate counts, bacterial species screening, meat speciation, antibiotic, histamine, pesticide, and toxin detection can be performed using a variety of methods. Approved test methodologies include carefully selected FDA, USDA, BAM, USP and AOAC official methods. Chemistries can also be performed on product samples and include: residue, proximates, fats and oils, minerals, metals, vitamin and nutritional labeling analysis, compliant with AOAC, NELA and FDA methods.
Shelf life studies using microbial population determinations can also be performed using an Amnis Imaging Flowsight Flow cytometer or other instruments.
The MiL can test for glyphosate using a competitive ELISA method that has been validated for water, soil, and agricultural products. The assay can also detect glyphosate in human serum, milk, powders and non-fat milk, baby formula, lentils, white beans, soybeans, corn, malt, barley, potatoes, rose stems, honey, corn syrup, tofu, soy sauce, tea leaves, ground oats, and wheat. Additional sample matrices are being validated and are currently pending. The concentration of glyphosate in samples is determined by using an appropriate extraction method (based on sample type) to extract glyphosate from submitted samples. These extracted samples are then prepared for assay by mixing them with appropriate solutions that will allow glyphosate in the sample to be detected and quantified. Sample glyphosate concentration is calculated based on the equation of the line from the response curve generated with standards (known concentrations) run with each sample set. To ensure quality control, a positive control sample of known concentration is run with each analysis.
The MiL routinely performs rapid microbial identifications, confirmations, and tracks contaminant sources of all pathogenic, indicator and spoilage organisms using the latest technologies such as GC FAME, Biolog®, Ribotyping, and 16S rRNA base pair sequencing. Our computerized identification databases have over 3,500 microorganisms profiled and include all pathogenic bacterial strain subspecies, yeast and molds, and actinomycetes.
We provide water testing services for bottled water, ground water, and other waters. We test for waterborne pathogens, atrazine and glyphosate, as well as other tests of water upon request that in our scope of business.
The MiL can test your product for its ability to biodegrade over time. A sample is inoculated with microorganisms commonly found in nature and checked for visual changes (pitting, discoloration, and growth of the organisms) in the surface of the product at set time points.
The MiL inc. performs ELISA assays on a daily basis. We have process automation which significantly reduces costs known as the Vitek Imunno Diagnostic Assay System (VIDAS) manufactured by a neighboring company in St. Louis, BioMerieux NA.
The Amnis FlowSight Imaging Cytometer is the heart of our service. Smallest sample size requested is 1.0mL whereas 100uL is commonly used.
