This Imaging Core Facility provides the BSL-3 USF Health community with access to state-of-the-art instrumentation for biological imaging. The facility is a focal point for research involving microscopy and cell imaging at USF and a broad range of research applications are supported.
A dedicated facility staff is available to provide training in instrument use, sample preparation, software applications and data analysis.

SEM: Supports ultrastructural analyses of surfaces and 3D organization. A high-performance scanning electron microscope with 3.0 nm resolution. It has secondary and backscatter detectors, low vacuum mode as well as an EDAX Genesis energy-dispersive x-ray analysis system for elemental analysis.

JEOL 1400 Transmission Electron Microscope
Supports high resolution ultrastructural analyses at all levels of biological structure. The available tomography package supports 3D analyses. A 120kv high resolution, analytical transmission electron microscope with Gatan Orius widefield side mount and Ultrascan 2K bottom mount CCD cameras. A Gatan single tilt rotating holder, Serial EM, IMOD and Chimeraâ„¢ are available for tomographic applications.
