Obtaining peptides sized 100–200 amino acids using chemical synthesis is much faster and cheaper than cloning and overexpressing in Escherichia coli. In addition, the resulting peptide is always correct. Chemical synthesis can be used to incorporate non-genetically encoded structures, such as D-amino acids, into the protein in a completely regular fashion. Synthetic peptides eliminate problems such as poor or no expression, cloning errors, tags like FLAG or 6-His, or the mistranslation of non-preferred codons in prokaryotic hosts. Artificial amino acids that have isosteric side chains can be used to investigate the functional importance of specific residues.

The process of introducing drugs into cells has always proved a major challenge for scientists. However, cell-permeable peptides (CPPs) have the ability to enter the plasma membrane of a cell independent of a membrane receptor. They are usually small peptides 10–30 residues in length with positively charged amino acid sequences.

CPPs are capable of delivering biologically active cargo to the cell interior. The desired therapeutic cargo could be attached to a CPP and then delivered to an intracellular target, thereby overcoming the entry restrictions set by the plasma membrane.

CPPs have gained widespread popularity as very promising non-viral transmembrane delivery vectors. Overlapping Peptide Library: Individual peptides can be divided into several fragments that overlap. The resulting overlapping peptide libraries can then be used for processes including continuous and linear epitope mapping.

Truncation Peptide Library: Peptides can be cleaved systematically into small fragments. The library of truncated peptides could then be used to predict the minimum length of amino acid that could be used to achieve optimal epitope activity.

Alanine Peptide Scanning Library: Each amino acid is substituted individually and systematically for alanine. Alanine scanning allows the easy identification of the specific amino acids that are responsible for the conformation, activity, and function of a protein.

    "I cannot recommend Life Tein enough. They were fantastic to work with and our laboratory will continue to contract with them in the future. Life Tein was the lowest bidder for two compounds. One compound was fairly simple in synthesis, whereas the other was quite complicated. The easy to synthesize compound was made in a timely manner. We had concerns about the identity of the compound due to a difference in LCMS data than what we expected. Life Tein offered without asking to send a small aliquot of the compound to us to ease our concerns. In the end, Life Tein was correct and had produced a highly pure product and sent the rest of the preparation to us within a week. The more complicated product was difficult to purify; however, the company tried many methods of purification that I believe goes above and beyond other synthesis companies I have dealt with. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a synthesis company!"
