Human Hepatocytes

LifeNet Health LifeSciences offers primary human hepatocytes from both healthy and diseased tissue in plateable and suspension categories for use in research applications. Optimized thawing, plating, and culture media are available.


Each lot is fully characterized to determine: 

  • Post-thaw cell viability ≥ 70%    
  • Post-thaw cell yield ≥ 5 X 10 million cells/vial
  • Morphological integrity
  • Attachment efficiency
  • Optimal seeding density
  • Phase I and II enzyme activity
  • Induction of Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) mRNA and specific activity (mid- and long-term adult lots)

LifeNet Health LifeSciences’ snap-frozen liver tissue (SFT) samples are accompanied by a comprehensive Donor History Report that includes donor medical and social history. Histopathological scores for inflammation, fibrosis, steatosis, and NAFLD activity score, along with H&E and Trichrome images, are also provided for each sample. Samples available span the NAFLD/NASH spectrum from 0-6. Each vial contains multiple tissue pieces weighing a total of 0.5 grams. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human liver tissue


LifeNet Health LifeSciences provides formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) blocks of human liver tissue across a spectrum of NAFLD/NASH donors. Each block is approximately 15 x 5 x 2.5 mm and embedded in IHC-grade paraffin. A comprehensive Donor History Report that includes donor medical and social history accompanies each tissue sample. Histopathological scores for inflammation, fibrosis, steatosis, and NAFLD activity score, along with H&E and Trichrome images, are also provided for each sample. Unstained Formalin-Fixed Paraffin Embedded slides containing two tissue sections per slide are available upon request. Donor-matched cells and SFT tissue samples are also available
