The Histotechnology and Comparative Pathology Facility provides comprehensive histology and histopathology support to investigators and the Animal Housing and Studies Facility. The facility performs most aspects of tissue evaluation, from necropsy to the final histological diagnostic evaluation. We support quality translational research by evaluating how the genetic background, environment and sex of the animals affect the study results or gene phenotype. The goal of the facility is to provide a high-quality histology service as well as to be a resource for understanding and translating in vivo data.
Price begins at $60.00 per animal for the necropsy service. Please note: We do not perform necropsies on cats or dogs.
We offer complete necropsy and histological analysis:
* Full work up includes gross examination, as well as body and organ weights.
* Histopathological evaluations of all systems (~40 selected sites)
* Consultation and evaluation of histopathology in fixed tissue specimens collected
* Consultation for gene expression studies at the cellular level in histologic slides
Please contact the lab at 718-678-1043 for additional information.
We offer a range of services such as BrdU, Ki67, Caspase 3, B-cell(CD45R/B220),T-Cell (CD3), macrophage (F4/80: iba1), neutrophil (MPO), cd34, endomucin, pan cytokeratin, PCNA, TUNEL, GFP.
We also work with PI supplied Antibodies and protocols. Pricing is available upon request.
FORCYTE Veterinary Hematology Analyzer . VetCyte Veterinary Hematology Control is run on the unit prior to running patient samples.
Requirements: 20 microliters of whole blood in a purple top EDTA Tube, is required for a sample analysis. Both RBC and WBC dilutions are made by the instrument utilizing the Vet-Set 2020 Reagents. Since no single Quality Control technique can routinely provide sufficient data for effective quality assurance, the recommended Quality Control Program for the FORCYTE includes the following three techniques:
• Daily Instrument Checks
• Use of Approved Commercial Patient Controls
• Manual Review of Patient Samples.
Sectioning paraffin service is available. Paraffin Cut Unstained slides, Paraffin Localized sectioning and Paraffin Interval cutting. Price is available upon request.
All sectioning is performed on our Leica CM3050 S Cryostat.
Services perform here at the laboratory include Frozen cut unstained, Frozen cut slide for Enzyme Histochemistry, Frozen Interval Cutting, Frozen cut Localized sectioning. Frozen cut for IHC.
