Genetica Cell Line Testing - a LabCorp brand, provides reliable, fast and affordable authentication of human cancer cell lines (primary and immortalized), stem cell lines and xenografts utilizing STR DNA technology. Our testing uses PowerPlex®16HS – which provides the researcher with genetic sites comparable to reference databases, such as those provided by ATCC and DSMZ. Turnaround time as quick as 1-2 business days.
Our human cell line authentication testing includes a MOUSE marker for the detection of mouse DNA - this additional marker is perfect for labs that are utilizing human/mouse xenografts and/or labs that are using both human and mouse cell lines simultaneously. It can also be used a confirmation that the cell line/sample is of mouse origin (and confirm absence of human contamination). We can detect as low as 0.5% mouse DNA.
We offer the following report options: Option #1 is recommended for routine quality control (most cost efficient) and Options 2, 3, OR 4 are recommended when a signed report is needed as proof of testing:
•Option 1 - Data Only (excel spreadsheet of analyzed data + peak data): $56/sample for genomic DNA or $80/sample if you submit a cell pellet *Following completion of the testing, I provide a “how-to” document for determining if your cell line is authentic or not
•Option 2 - DNA Profile Report + peak data – signed report but no comparison to reference database profile: $76/sample for genomic DNA or $100/sample if you submit a cell pellet *Following completion of the testing, I provide a “how-to” document for determining if your cell line is authentic or not
•Option 3 - Comparative Analysis with Database Profile + peak data – signed report with your “questioned” cell line side-by-side with the known reference profile (i.e. from ATCC or DSMZ, etc) plus you get the % identity and % match (telling you if your “questioned” cell line is authenticated or not - includes comprehensive interpretation of your results): $176/sample for genomic DNA or $200/sample if you submit a cell pellet
•Option 4 - Comparative Analysis between Two Submitted Specimens + peak data – signed report with your “questioned” sample side-by-side with a SECOND SPECIMEN (a reference specimen) that you submit plus you get the % identity and % match (telling you if your questioned sample is authenticated or not). This test is especially helpful for researchers who create in-house cell lines from patient tissue – you would submit a sample from the patient (blood, buccal swab, tissue) and a low passage stock of the established cancer cell line/stem cell line and we would compare them to each other and tell you if that cell line is from that patient: $232/case for genomic DNA or $280/case if you submit cell pellets (or blood, fresh tissue, buccal swab) – includes 2 samples for processing
Our rapid and reliable real-time qPCR mycoplasma contamination detection test can detect at least 107 species of mycoplasma including the most common cell culture contaminants. The limit of detection is determined to be equivalent to (1-2) Mycoplasma genomes. You can submit one sample for both mycoplasma contamination detection and cell line authentication (STR profiling - human or mouse) for easy and efficient quality control of your cell lines. We accept any species of cell lines for mycoplasma contamination detection.

Genetica Cell Line Testing - a LabCorp brand, offers human based Microsatellite Instability (MSI) testing to researchers for determination of the MSI status between a human tumor sample and a control sample from the same individual (human tissues and/or extracted DNA from human tissue) and/or human cell lines.
The kit used for MSI testing (Promega Corporation) includes fluorescently labeled primers for co-amplification of seven markers including five mononucleotide repeat markers (BAT-25, BAT-26, NR-21, NR-24, and MONO-27) and two pentanucleotide repeat markers (Penta C and Penta D). The mononucleotide markers are used to detect MSI and the pentanucleotide markers are used as quality control markers to detect possible sample mix-ups and/or contamination with another sample.
