Human Primary Cells

Price on request

Discovery scientists have validated and standardized multiple primary immune cell isolations from healthy donors. Utilizing modern technologies and gentle selection protocols, flow cytometry attests that our standard cell isolations deliver high purity. We use flow cytometry to characterize donors for peripheral blood immune cell subsets and genetic sequencing for HLA status. We store and transport samples using high-quality storage media that is free of animal protein to avoid unnecessary activation of cells. Our scientists are continually investigating further cellular isolations to add to our standard offerings. We have cultivated a deep expertise in applying cellular isolations to custom projects. Our team is available for consultations to optimize the results of studies involving our tissue dissociations.

Through our proprietary healthy donor network and collection clinic, Discovery can support large projects that require:

• Recallable donors for longitudinal collections
• HLA-A typing status for donors
• Faster than average accruals
• Sourcing from a large patient cohort

Our primary immune cell isolations are derived from human apheresis collections and delivered as cryopreserved vials of single-cell suspensions. Each specimen has guaranteed cell counts following our Thawing Viable Cell Products protocol. Our large healthy donor network allows for large-scale prospective collections, while also supporting our robust bank of inventory samples.

Customized laboratory services are available and include custom: isolations, aliquoting, processing of leukopaks, flow cytometry characterization, targeted genomic analysis, and more.

Service Listing:
• Isolations from viable cell products (PBMCS, DTCs, BMMCs, etc.)
• Customized processing of leukopaks
• Culturing for cell expansion, activation, and/or differentiation
• Flow cytometry characterization
• Targeted genomic characterization

Custom Tissue Microarray Manufacturing

Tissue arrays, or tissue microarrays (TMAs), may contain hundreds of samples on a single slide. TMAs enable researchers to make the best use of tissue specimens while increasing throughput and improving accuracy, reproducibility, and statistical data. The human tissue used in our arrays has recently been procured under the most ethical guidelines. Discovery’s tissue standardization process provides consistent results from slide to slide. All TMAs have a prolonged shelf life and support a wide range of scientific applications. A board-certified pathologist verifies each tissue used in the arrays. All TMAs include a slide layout and tissue pathology information including age, sex, diagnosis and the location of each sample positioned on the slide. Ideal for using in your next immunohistochemistry, FISH or miRNA ISH study, Folio’s human tissue microarrays are the perfect cost-effective research tool, allowing high throughput analysis with statistical precision cutting bench time in half. In addition to the human tissue slides listed below, custom microarrays can be constructed according to your specific research requirements.

QualTek uses IHC as a platform to better understand the expression and potential role of target biomarkers in various disease and experimental tissues. IHC provides an understanding of how, where, and to what extent a target is expressed within and among normal and disease tissues. IHC provides a great deal of information that allows scientists and clinicians to make cutting-edge decisions about the direction of clinical development and which patient populations to treat.

QualTek will develop and test your research target by offering extensive assay development, validation, screening, and scoring scheme development.

This includes:

  • Reproducibility & precision testing
  • Large scale sensitivity testing to determine penetrance of expression in various disease tissue types from QualTek’s extensive Tissue Bank and experimental tissues

Companion Diagnostic Development

Price on request

QualTek offers a logical and cost-effective option to companion diagnostic development. QualTek will first develop a quality assay and determine if the therapeutic and IHC test are effective - eliminating the mistake of prematurely investing in a commercial assay. QualTek then provides prospective testing of patient samples to generate pivotal information in conjunction with development of the most relevant companion diagnostic test.

Our philosophy for developing Companion Diagnostics is to serve as an advocate for our partners in all aspects of the process from assay development through commercial support. QualTek is not associated with a specific platform and we are unencumbered with no agenda other than supporting the success of our partners. We provide honest consultation throughout the process empowering our sponsors to make cutting-edge decisions for their therapeutic program.

Key services include:

  • Prototype test development (e.g. PD-L1 assay for lung carcinoma clinical study)
  • Platform independent approach
  • Expert consultation for:
    • Optimal antibody selection
    • Appropriate scoring scheme
    • Pivotal cut-off decisions
    • Strategy for testing & commercialization
  • Prospective testing of clinical samples (CLIA)
  • Accumulation of pivotal data
  • Validation reports for inclusion in regulatory filings
