Particle Size Analysis (PSA) service using the Malvern Mastersizer 3000 (MS3000) laser diffraction particle size analyzer. Available dispersion accessories include the Hydro EV for wet samples, e.g. suspensions and emulsions, and the Aero S for dry powders. MS3000 has a measurement range of 0.01 to 3500 µm. Custom reports can be generated per customer specifications and raw data can be exported in a variety of file formats.
Method Development is available upon request and is left to the discretion of the customer. Development may include identifying and testing stability within a suitable dispersion medium, as well as identifying operation parameters appropriate for a particular sample. Method development may also include other particle characterization, such as SEM, to correlate laser diffraction PSDs or to determine the nature of particles as either primary or agglomerates. Robustness testing can also be done to ensure the reliability of the methods chosen. Please note that method development may require more time and material than standard PSA alone and should be considered when determining the scope of experimentation.
First time customers receive a “Sample Preparation and Shipping & Handling Guide” detailing the steps necessary to facilitate secure transport of materials. Customers are expected to provide current Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and to disclose any special considerations concerning proper handling, storage or disposal of materials. PSA is a destructive process and materials cannot be recovered after testing, however, unused materials can be returned to customers at their expense.
