The cannabinoids panel quantitatively measures 19 cannabinoids in plant material, extracts, and isolates. This panel is more comprehensive than other commercially available panels, making it an ideal option in trait and crop development studies.

Our Genomics Laboratory is equipped to extract nucleic acids from a variety of sample types, such as blood, cell cultures, tissue, swabs and fecal material, and perform the necessary quality controls. We use commercially available kits, and we can work with our collaborators to develop a protocol to suit their organism or tissue of interest. The Genomics Laboratory has the capacity to run large scale extractions using automation and also smaller scale pilot studies with reduced sample sizes. DNA and RNA can be extracted from fresh, frozen or preserved material. DNA quantitation is performed using a picogreen assay kit, and RNA is quantitated using a ribogreen assay kit. RNA quality is also visualized using the Agilent Bioanalyzer or the Agilent Tape Station. Additional quality measures can be completed upon request.
With the Illumina NovaSeq 6000, Eremid™ has the capability to run high throughput next generation sequencing for whole genomes, RNA-seq or specialized applications such as methylation sequencing, amplicon sequencing or exome capture. Illumina sequencing can be performed using a single read or paired end run. Read sizes include 50bp, 100bp, or 125bp in high output mode, and up to 250bp in rapid run mode.

The 10X Chromium library preparation system is a unique approach to leveraging single molecular barcoding. In the genomic DNA mode, the Chromium instrument uses molecular barcoding of high molecular weight DNA to generate long-read sequencing data using Illumina short read sequencing. In the single cell mode, the instrument can be used to generate single cell transcriptome data and profile an entire cell population.
Using high molecular weight DNA, (≥50kb) the Chromium instrument enables individual barcoding of long stretches of DNA. The long DNA fragments are then reduced to smaller sizes for Illumina short read sequencing, each retaining the barcode assigning it to the larger fragment. The libraries are constructed from these shorter fragments and sequencing on our Illumina HiSeq 2500s.

Using the single cell mode on the Chromium instrument allows for the molecular profiling of a cell population. RNA transcripts from individual cells are barcoded to allow full transcriptome sequencing of individual cells. The instrument can profile from 1000 to 10,000 cells per experiment, which are then used to generate a single library for sequencing. Molecular barcodes assign individual transcript reads to a particular cell. Using the transcription profile, researchers can identify individual cell types in their population.

Eremid™ has platforms dedicated to SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) genotyping and gene expression. SNPs can be genotyped at the GWAS level using our Illumina iScan and the Illumina Infinium chemistry (using a variety of arrays). Smaller scale SNP genotyping (<100 SNPs) can be performed using the Sequenom MassArray analyzer or the TaqMan chemistry on our ABI7900 HT Fast Real Time PCR instrument. All three platforms allow for the use of pre-built assays, or customized assays, depending on the needs of our clients. Our scientists are ready to work with a client to determine the right array platform for their study.

Our scientists employ a variety of multiple high-field NMR instruments including a 700 and 950 MHz NMR to collect 2D and 3D multiple resonance experiments. Edits and analysis of chemical shift assignments are processed using NMRPipe and NMRView.
We use software packages such as CYANA and AMBER with NOESY NMR data to perform energy minimization and 3D structural refinement for total 3D structural determination. NOESY or basic HSQC experiments are also used to determine protein-protein or protein-ligand binding experiments. We apply relaxation experiments or user written pulse programs to highlight the dynamics of proteins.

In our NMR laboratory, we run NMR Saturation Transfer Difference (STD) experiments to determine protein/ligand binding or corresponding binding constants. HSQC experiments determine binding location and involved residues on a given protein. A SampleJet 480-autosampler for the rapid creation of large screening libraries. Complexes or large multimer proteins are verified with mass spectral data collected in our in-house proteomics facility.
