DNASU is a central repository for plasmid clones and collections. We currently store and distribute over 320,000 plasmids including over 75,000 human and mouse plasmids, full genome collections from numerous organisms, the protein expression plasmids from the Protein Structure Initiative as the PSI:Biology-Materials Repository (PSI:Biology-MR), and both small and large collections from individual researchers.
The mission of the DNASU Plasmid Repository is to facilitate research by providing high quality, annotated plasmids and resources to the research community and to support researchers by functioning as a centralized facility to distribute plasmids that they create as part of their research. You can search and request plasmids from DNASU through our website https://dnasu.org
DNASU currently distributes growing collection of over 320,000 plasmids with genes from more than 600 organisms that includes clones created in the LaBaer laboratory, human and mouse genes from the ORFeome collaboration, various clones from outside researchers and tens of thousands of expression-ready clones created by researchers in the NIGMS-funded Protein Structure Initiative (PSI) after we became the PSI-Materials Repository (PSI-MR, now the PSI:Biology-Materials Repository) in 2006.
Each sample that enters our lab is sequence validated and annotation about each plasmid is stored in an Oracle-based database. Samples are stored in a state-of-the art Nexus Freezer Storage and Retrival system (funded by a NIGMS ARRA grant) that allows us to strack the plasmids and quickly retrieve requested plasmids. Plasmid information is searchable here https://dnasu.org/DNASU/SearchOptions.do and additional information about each plasmid can be found by clicking on the Clone ID or vector name. We have distributed over 250,000 plasmids to researchers in 47 states and 45 countries, thus enabling researchers to execute the broadest possible variety of experiments on the functional roles for genes and proteins in biology and disease.
Companies and For-profit institutions
Shipping is an additional cost. At check out, you can provide a FedEx number or we will charge a flat fee of $15 for domestic orders or $30 for international orders. Large collections have a flat shipping fee of $250.
Miniprepped DNA - individual clones - $12.5/clone
Isopropanol based prep - 96 well plate - $175/plate for Non-profit institutions. This method is good for standard molecular biology applications. If you require transfection grade DNA prep, please contact us.
Want to decrease the burden of distributing your most requested plasmids? DNASU will store and distribute your plasmids too! We accept both large and small submissions of plasmids from any laboratory.
We offer gene synthesis, cloning, and automatic distribution of plasmids for research customers interested in a one stop shop for making their constructs available to the research community. Rates very depending on gene size and complexity.
