Founded by Kenneth Smith and Mariya Smit, PhD in early 2008 with a vision to provide the world with an easy-to-use, fast, portable and affordable alternative technology for DNA detection. We invented and are now developing a platform molecular diagnostics technology we call Restrictase Cascade Exponential Amplification (RCEA).
The main difference between PCR and RCEA is that PCR amplifies the target whereas RCEA amplifies the signal. The RCEA reaction is faster, easier, and isothermal giving it greater flexibility for field based assays.
In 2014 Andrei Gindilis, PhD joined us to work full time with RC development efforts and we published “A New Restriction Endonuclease-Based Method for Highly-Specific detection of DNA Targets from Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.” Plos One 9(5):e97826. In January 2015 we published a second article in a Nature Publishing Group journal titled “Restriction Cascade Exponential Amplification (RCEA) assay with an attomolar detection limit: a novel, highly specific, isothermal alternative to qPCR” Scientific Reports 5:7737. In Jaunary 2015 we opened a laboratory in San Diego and Metin Bilgin, PhD, has joined us to start developing virus detection assays.
