Crystallization of target and data collection

BOC Sciences has experience in analyzing a wide range of crystal compounds from small organic molecular to heavy metal complexes and also air-sensitive materials.

We offer the service of collecting a complete X-ray diffraction data set on crystals based on the method of slow evaporation and cooling, vapor and liquid diffusion,sitting or hanging drop, sublimation and Co-crystallants. You are welcome to send us your crystal compounds. Or, our researchers with a high level of expertise in single crystal growth techniques could do the crystallization for your compounds. The physical and chemical properties of the material will be examined to determine the crystallization techniques. Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS, LC-MS/MS and GC-MS)

Mass spectrometry works by ionizing chemical compounds to generate charged molecules or molecule fragments and measuring their mass-to-charge ratios. The spectra are used to determine the elemental or isotopic signature of a sample, the masses of particles and of molecules, and to elucidate the chemical structures of molecules. Molecular weight confirmation is also applied in the identification and/or quantitation of solvents, identification of volatile impurities in starting materials and characterisation of synthesised intermediates, APIs and reference standards.
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance is especially important in the structure analysis of organic compounds. Our Bruker 600 MHz, 400 MHz and 300 MHz Ultra-shield solution state spectrometers are capable of detecting 1H, 13C, 19F and 31P nuclei and are also capable of performing a suite of two-dimensional techniques for the structural elucidation/confirmation of your compounds.
Due to the direct correlation between the number of nuclei present and peak areas, NMR is also useful for the quantitation of compounds, whether this is for an assay determination of the material itself, a quantification of impurities and solvents or to measure levels of enantiomers/stereoisomers.
X-ray crystallography

X-ray crystallography is a useful tool for identifying the atomic and molecular structure of a crystal, in which the crystalline atoms cause a beam of incident X-rays to diffract into many specific directions. By measuring the intensities and angles of these diffracted beams, a crystallographer is capable of producing a 3D picture of the electron density within the crystal. From this electron density, the positions of the atoms in the crystal can be determined, as well as the chemical bonds, the disorder and various other information.

1、Enzymatic labeling

Incorporate functionalities into proteins at specific sites via enzymatic reactions is one of the most important approaches for protein labeling. The incorporated tags then enable reactions that are chemoselective, whose functional groups not only are inert in biological media, but also do not occur natively in proteins or other macromolecules.

2、Chemical labeling

Chemical labeling or the use of chemical tags could offer a wider range of colors and photo chemical properties. Also, chemical tags are preferred over fluorescent proteins due to the architectural and size limitations of the fluorescent protein's characteristic b-barrel.

3、Protein labeling

A short tag is used to minimize disruption of protein folding and function in protein labeling. Sometimes, transition metals are also used to link specific residues in the tags to site-specific targets such as the N, C-termini, or internal sites within the protein.
4、Genetic labeling

Genetic labeling, also known as chromosome painting, is a genetic labeling technique utilizes probes that are specific for chromosomal sites along the length of a chromosome. This technique allows abnormalities such as deletions and duplications to be revealed.

Disease models at molecular, cell and animal levels play critical roles in drug discovery. The biological activity of compounds sourced from chemical synthesis, natural products or biological molecules cannot be tested directly in the human body. The disease models which truthfully reflect the pathology of diseases serve effective and economical ways to explore the activity and corresponding mechanism of the compounds. Boc Sciences is applying more than 200 in vitro and in vivo bioassays of various disease models, including over 100 High-throughput screening (HTS) or high content screening (HCS) models, with the screening capacity reaching approximately 100,000 samples per day.

HTS is an innovative approach within the drug discovery paradigm that combines the application of multi-disciplinary knowledge with the integration of advanced technologies to expedite the identification and development of active molecules or "hits" into potential drug “leads” with desired therapeutic activity. Boc Sciences utilizes internationally validated HTS technologies, which have advantages such as the rapid detection of trace quantities with high sensitivity and accuracy. HTS decreases the amount of testing compound required such that only microgram quantities are needed, which permits certain natural products that are difficult to isolate and purify and for compounds that are difficult to synthesize to be assayed. Also compounds can be tested multiple times in different screening models, thereby increasing the probability of discovering new leads and drug candidates.
