Bioanalytics and Single-Cell Core provides standardized, high-quality services to support translational research, including pre-analytical biospecimen single cell processing and isolation procedures, as well as analytical technologies that deliver a systems-oriented perspective on the composition of a sample. Bulk sample platforms include Luminex bead arrays, high throughput pyrosequencing, and WES capillary Westerns. Services tailored for characterization of single cells include the following platforms: immunofluorescence micromanipulator manual single cell isolation, DEPArray automated single cell isolation, Biomark microfluidic PCR, and atomic force microscopy. Single Cell Proteomics (Mass Spectrometry)
Utilizes Fluidigum's Helios CyTOF platform and Maxpar metal-labeling technology. CyTOF is able to label cellular targets with metal-tagged (isotope-labeled) antibodies using time-of-flight mass spectrometry in order to detect and quantify. Possible to detect up to 35 probes in a single cell.
Utilizes Fluidigum's BioMark with single cell PCR Gene expression chips, available formats are 48X48 or 96X96. For example a 48X48 chip has the capacity to detect the expression of 48 genes in 48 single cell, and vise versa with 96X96 for larger population of cells and genes.

The Luminex FlexMap 3D enables simultaneous measurement of up to 500 analytes in a single microplate well, using very small sample volumes. Fast and cost-effective bioassay results on many assay formats including nucleic acid assays, receptor-ligand assays, immunoassays and enzymatic assays.
The AFM instrument has the capacity to collect quantitative nano-physical/mechanical data (e.g., cell adhesiveness and elasticity) along with tapping, force and contact modes of single cells. The probes can be chemically functionalized to specifically detect single molecules on target surfaces. AFM probed cells can be stained, without fixation, with fluorescent dyes and imaged with fluorescent microscopy for subsequent isolation and downstream applications such as expression profiling.
