PersonalizeDx Labs provides as a service molecular tests in pharmacogenomics, genetic disorders, oncology and infectious disease which will serve as a valuable aid for clinicians in diagnosing patients early and enable appropriate therapeutic intervention to enhance patient care.
AutoGenomics' mission is to empower clinical laboratories by supplying them with a fully integrated system to perform a large menu of automated, cost-effective and easy to use tests with a high degree of accuracy and sensitivity.
Pharmacogenomics is the relationship between a patient’s inherited genetic make-up and their response
to pharmaceutical drugs. This relatively new field combines pharmacology (the science of drugs) and
genomics (the study of genes and their functions) to develop effective, safe medications and doses that
will be tailored to a person’s genetic makeup.
Many drugs that are currently available are “one size fits all” but they don’t work the same way for
everyone. It can be difficult to predict who will benefit from a medication, who will not respond at all, and
who will experience negative side effects (called adverse drug reactions).
Adverse Drug Events (ADEs) are injuries resulting from drug-related medical interventions. ADE’s can
occur in any health care setting, including inpatient, such as acute care hospital, outpatient and long-term
care settings, such as nursing homes.
ADEs in inpatient settings account for:
• 100,000 deaths annually making it the fourth leading cause of death
• An estimated1 in 3 of all hospital adverse events
• Affect about 2 million hospital stays each year
• Prolong hospital stays by 1.7 to 4.6 days
In outpatient settings, ADEs account annually for:
• Over 3.5 million physician office visits
• An estimated 1 million emergency department visits
• Approximately 125,000 hospital admissions
Pharmacogenomics testing provides insight on two key processes:
• Pharmacodynamics deals with the courses of action, effect and breakdown of drugs within the
body. One drug modulates the pharmacologic effect of another: additive, synergistic, or
• Pharmacokinetics represents the movement of a drug within the body. It is defined as the study
of the time course of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. Usually, the
movements of drugs in the body are mediated by cytochrome P450 (CYP).
