Human Biofluids

Audubon Bio procures biofluids from normal and diseased donors. We also provide biofluids with matching Frozen or FFPE Tissues. Multiple types of biofluids can also be collected from a single donor.

Frozen Human Tissue

Price on request
  • All fresh frozen tissue samples are collected under IRB approval by certified medical pathologists.
  • Tissues are snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen within 10 to 30 minutes of surgery excision.
  • Standard sample weight is 0.5—1.0 gram.
  • Samples can be collected/embedded in Optimal Cutting Temperature (OCT) media upon request.
  • Tissues are stored in vapor-phase liquid nitrogen (-190°C).
  • Fresh frozen tissue specimens are collected under a strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Only tissues with an RNA Integrity Number (RIN) of 7 or higher are provided to clients.
  • Unless indicated (for Customized collections) all frozen tumor tissues have at least 50% tumor content.
  • From excision to storage to shipment, each specimen is handled with care and precision to ensure that the highest quality

Fixed Human Tissue

Price on request
  • All formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens are collected under IRB approval by certified medical pathologists.
  • Tissues are fixed in 10% Neutral-Buffered Formalin (NBF) within 10 to 30 minutes of surgery excision.
  • Tissues are fixed for 18—24 hours at room temperature, then embedded in IHC-grade paraffin.
  • Standard sample size is 1x1x0.5cm, but can vary based on the nature of the disease or tissue type.
  • The fixation agent and embedding media can be customized upon request.
  • FFPE tissues are stored at room temperature.
  • Standard-sized FFPE tissues can yield at least 500 x 4-5µm cuts.
  • FFPE tissue specimens are collected under a strict Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Quality Control (H&E staining) is performed on 100% of collected FFPE tissue samples.
  • Unless indicated (for special cases, or Customized collections) all FFPE tumor tissues have at least 50% tumor content.
  • Each FFPE block is accompanied by detailed clinical and pathological information

Human Whole Blood & PBMCs

Human Whole Blood & PBMCs Audubon Bio collects viable peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) isolated from whole blood.

Processing and Storage:

  • PBMCs are processed within 2-3 hours, and frozen within 4 hours of blood collection (in freezing media containing 10% DMSO).
  • PBMC viability is checked immediately before freezing and only vials with at least 95% viability are kept and stored.
  • Each vial of PBMC contains at least 1×107 cells.
  • Audubon Bio guarantees at least 60% viability after proper thaw.
  • PBMCs are stored and shipped in vapor-phase liquid nitrogen (-190°C).

PBMCs from patients with Hematological Malignancies are regularly collected. PBMCs can also be prospectively collected from other conditions upon request.

Human Whole Blood

Audubon Bio can collect up to 40 mL of whole blood per donor.

Whole Blood Collection Tube Types:

  • Sodium (Na) or Lithium (Li) Heparin tubes
  • Sodium (Na) Citrate tubes
  • PAXgene RNA and DNA tubes
  • CPT tubes

Bone Marrow Mononuclear Cells

Audubon Bio collects viable bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMCs) isolated from bone marrow aspirates.

Processing and Storage:

  • BMMCs are processed within 2-3 hours, and frozen within 4 hours of bone marrow aspiration (in freezing media containing 10% DMSO).
  • BMMC viability is checked immediately before freezing and only vials with at least 95% viability are kept and stored.
  • Each vial of BMMC contains at least 1×107 cells.
