Applied Pathology Systems was founded in July 2016. We are dedicated to providing high quality histology services, accurate pathology evaluation, and superior human cancer specimens to help biotech and pharmaceutical companies fight against human diseases. We are located in Biotechnology Park of University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, Massachusetts. Our laboratory is staffed by experienced histologists and supervised by US board certified pathologists. The combination of our state-of-the-art histology laboratory and the strong histology and pathology expertise allows us to deliver high quality histology services and accurate data interpretation. On the other hand, we have developed a comprehensive list of clinical tissue specimens covering a wide range of cancer types with detailed annotated clinical data to further support related researches and development. We also welcome all types of collaborations and partnerships. **Publications** - Liu J, Li H, et al. H&E Staining

Hematoxylin and eosin staining
Price on request

Even though histology has been widely used in research and clinic for many years, it remains an essential technology that allows researchers and clinicians to study the morphology and structure of tissues in particular pathophysiological conditions. The Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) stain allows the visualization of nuclei and cytoplasm respectively and is considered the general/ routine procedure in histology. Each step during the whole procedure may affect the H&E stain result dramatically.

Special Slide Staining

Price on request

While the H&E stain is the general stain in histology that allows the pathologist to visualize most of the diseases or physiological conditions, special stains are used to differentiate some specific components that cannot be distinguished by H&E stain. Listed below are the more routinely performed special stains we offered at APS. If your special stains are not listed, we can also order any special staining kit and perform the stains for you.

Tissue Microarrays

Price on request

TMA allows researchers to investigate multiple cases of tissue in one slide, therefore increase the efficiency and consistency. TMAs can be used in many applications, such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH). In addition to our pre-made TMAs covering many types of cancers, we also offer customized TMA construction with very flexible templates and features that you can choose from.

ic

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

Price on request

In Immunohistochemistry (IHC), antibody can bind specifically to its antigen in biological tissues. IHC is a powerful tool to study the expression, localization, and distribution of a specific protein in the cells of a tissue section. Since the specific expression of some proteins is the characteristic of a particular disease or cellular event, IHC staining has been widely used in both clinical diagnosis and basic researches, such as in pathway studies and biomarker development. However some of the procedures in IHC staining such as sample preparation and antigen retrieval could be very challenging and often need to be optimized. While in partnership with a third party company, we have validated a list of antibodies of some common targets for IHC staining. Our experienced histologists can also help to work up any antibody of your choice, and provide you the final IHC results.
