ALine, Inc. is a woman-owned and operated microfluidics engineering, rapid prototyping, and low to mid-volume OEM manufacturing firm that was established in 2003. The company was started in the founder’s garage, and now resides in a state of the art facility with 7500 sq.ft.

The company was founded to address the need for high quality, reproducible microfluidic prototypes, critical for bridging between a research focus, to a product and manufacturing mindset. One key component of that transition is to have tools and processes that reinforce the critical learning achieved with each design iteration by shortening the design-build-test cycle.

Our designs and processes were developed to enable rapid prototyping. Our design strategies ensure device fabrication variability does not impact functional performance.

Rapid means a less than five day turnaround time from receipt of your PO, even for complex builds.

If you are a biologist and need a more reliable microfluidic to test your assay, or a biomedical engineer making home brew devices, we can take a drawing or even a schematic or sketch of what you need, and turn it into a reliable, easy to use manually operated device that will move your experiments forward.

Over 1-2 weeks, we would provide you with:

  • Up to 3 consulting sessions of 1 to 2 hours each to help you finalize your design to optimize for materials and fabrication
  • Complete mechanical drawing with revision and item list with tolerance specifications
  • Batches of 20 to 100 cartridges for testing
  • After completing testing of the first batch of devices, revisions and/or quotes for higher volume will be provided
  • This stage can continue with multiple iterations until the client is ready for further integration with instrumentation.

Microfluidics provides a means for miniaturizing an assay workflow and porting it into a small total analytical system that is portable and rugged.

The Analytical Objective means the product achieves the sensitivity, dynamic range and limit of detection required for diagnostic application.

Scientific expertise in the physics and chemistry of microfluidics, and an in depth knowledge in bioanalytical systems are required to integrate the materials, biology, and engineering.

While many developers can mold and machine channels with great sophistication, few understand the underlying science which controls the analytical performance.
