Agrolab is the leading research organisation in the EU North zone with experience dating back to 1984. Since then, Agrolab has successfully helped companies by testing, developing and registering plant protection products in the EU (1107/2009).

Over the years, Agrolab has expanded with field trial stations throughout Scandinavia and the Baltic states. Therefore, Agrolab can provide support with in-depth regulatory consultancy and field trial planning for the EU North zone (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania). We are the largest CRO in Scandinavia and the Baltic states and offer trials for registration of plant protection products at our own stations in the region.

We have knowledge of the region and provide expert advice for regulatory support and field trial planning. We know the local systems for registration and can help with registration of plant protection products according to regulation (EC) 1107/2009 for registering plant protection products on the market in EU.

The regulatory team at Agrolab is specialized in regulatory affairs of the EU North zone and offers full regulatory assistance for approval of plant protection products (PPP’s). Our services include preparation of dRRs as core assessments at zonal level and adjustments to suit specific, national requirements for individual member states.

The regulatory expertise at Agrolab extends from the former Council Directive 91/414/EEC to the current Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 for placing plant protection products on the market, and consequently we can prepare, adapt and update dossiers according to current legislation.

We provide guidance on data requirements for registration of plant protection products in the EU North zone, both for the active substance and the formulated product, and in close collaboration with our GEP field trial units, we advise on requirements for efficacy and selectivity trials.

We prepare, submit and follow-up on applications to national authorities in the EU North zone as well as the rest of Europe. We have produced numerous successful applications as zonal applications and mutual recognitions, and we can also help you prepare applications for parallel import (PI) registrations or emergency uses applications.

We can also help you with providing all the additional documentation needed for your application, including:

– Climatic comparability documents (for Mutual Recognitions)

– Appraisal of field studies for use in environmental fate sections (usually in Denmark)

– Comparative assessments for candidates for substitution according to Art. 50 and Annex IV of Regulation EU 1107/2009

All information is kept strictly confidential.

Agrolab has high expertise in field trials with experience dating back to 1984. We conduct GEP field trials to support the registration of pesticides and plant protection products. We are specialised in the EU North zone, and hold GEP accreditation in Denmark, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania. By this, we are able to support field trial at our own field trial stations that cover the climatic variability of Scandinavia and the Baltic states. We have a dedicated staff with in-depth knowledge of the differences in this zone and good relations to the national regulatory support and advisory services. Therefore, Agrolab can give you the best advice on placement of trials in the EU North zone.

All GEP studies are conducted according to EPPO guidelines and we take full responsibility for the study plan, study design and reporting.

Agrolab can arrange and manage Pan-European multi-site trials in most European countries through our cooperating partners in Central and Southern Europe.

Data on GEP trials are recorded electronically in the field. In order to manage the data obtained, we use the Agricultural Research Management (ARM) software with which we have extensive experience. ARM is primarily used for data collection and basic statistical analyses. Shortly after collection, the data can be available to the sponsor. We also handle customized versions of ARM or the clients own computer programs.

– MOR and Decline trials for arable crops, vegetables, top fruit, soft fruit, greenhouse crops (cucumber, tomatoes, melons, strawberries etc.).

– EC10 studies : Determination of phytotoxic effects on succeeding crops

– Soil dissipation studies on fields with known history, Special crop rotation studies, bare soil studies – with and without irrigation.
Soil cores can be collected down to 1 meter.

Residue samples are stored as long as necessary and sent frozen to the analytical laboratories.

Raw data are stored at our archive as long as required.

Agrolab has many field sites available and can offer GLP studies in a wide range of arable crops or on bare soil sites, including large-scale field studies, smaller field and semi-field studies. We have extensive experience of conducting studies with;

– Earthworms (Acute and chronic laboratory toxicity tests, OECD guidelines no 207 and 222)

– Organic matter breakdown in litterbag (OECD guideline no 56)

– Soil organisms such as Collombola

– Full faunal studies in arable crops

We have excellent facilities for conducting GLP studies on our own land, with or without irrigation, including the option for large trials with plot sizes up to 2 Ha.

Non target arthropods are collected using appropriate methods, such as pitfall traps. Samples for residue analysis can be included in the study design.

Agrolab can also offer non-target terrestrial plant studies in accordance with OECD guidelines 208 (Seedling emergence and seedling growth) and 227 (Vegetative Vigor) EPPO standard PP1/207(2). Studies are conducted under controlled environmental conditions in growth chambers.
