Advansta

Menlo Park, California, US

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Menlo Park, California, Advansta is an evolving international company, which develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of specialized bio-research reagents that simplify, accelerate and improve life sciences research.

Our mission is to be the leading developer and supplier of products to support research in understanding the dynamics of biological events.

Advansta's focus is developing solutions to precisely characterize molecular events that occur in cells. Our products are based on the following principles:

  • Quantitation of cellular events that occur in parallel
  • Real time, direct measurement of intracellular molecular dynamics
  • Functional analysis of disease states and drug candidates

Advansta supports life science researchers with custom protein analysis services. Our expert team can help with experimental design and implementation at any point in your project.

Purified proteins/cell lysate/ tissue lysate samples will be run on SDS-polyacrylamide gels followed by transfer of the fractionated proteins/polypeptides/fragments onto PVDF membrane. The membrane is probed with a primary-secondary antibody pair via chemiluminescent or fluorescent method to detect the protein/fragment of interest. This service needs to be optimized on a case basis to suit the optimal fractionation of protein samples provided by the customer.
Summary of Service: Western Blot Run (WB) will be optimized to fractionate the purified proteins/cell lysate/ tissue lysate samples on SDS-polyacrylamide gels followed by transfer of the fractionated proteins/polypeptides/fragments onto PVDF. The membrane is probed with a primary-secondary antibody pair via chemiluminescent or fluorescent method to detect the protein/fragment of interest. If MW standard proteins are not transferred, we will repeat the electrophoresis, blotting and probing steps to obtain a satisfactory chemiluminescent or fluorescent signal. This service often needs to be optimized on a case basis to suit the optimal fractionation of protein samples provided by the customer.

Number of samples per run: 1-15

WB System: (1) Reducing or Non-Reducing SDS-gel (2) Linear Gradient or Fixed concentration gel (3) TRIS-Glycine buffer system or any other system preferred by customer (4) Choice of marker/standard proteins (5) Wet-transfer of proteins on PVDF membrane (6) Probing of WB membrane with one primary - secondary antibody pair and visualization by chemiluminescence (7) Probing of WB membrane with multiple primary – secondary antibody pairs and visualized by fluorescence.

Deliverables: Digital image of the blot via email.

Requirements: Customer provides the following
(1) Pure Protein samples in Sample Buffer or Cell/tissue lysates in Sample Buffer.
(2) Primary antibody to detect the protein/fragment of interest.
