Assay development**:
- Custom biochemical and cell-based assay development; routine human and mouse cell-based assays
with custom reporters and endogenous gene expression such as Northern blot analyses, real time RT
PCR and protein level detection with quantitative Western blot assays and ELISA; quantitative assays
for variations in endogenous signal transduction pathways; specialty assay development for human
brown and white adipocyte differentiation in obesity and diabetes, and cochlear organ culture in hearing loss and restoration.

**We are happy to buy commercially available animal models, obesity/diabetes models, cochlea hearing mouse model, tumor models, breast cancer models. We also have access to the following cell lines: cancer cell lines, lung, breast, other routine cell lines like leukemia and lymphoma, fibroblast, mostly human. Our main focus is primary cells, and we can create genetically modified models, mouse fibroblast, etc.

Preclinical drug discovery and development:
- Custom testing of drug candidates for efficacy in human and mouse cell lines, human adult stem cells and cochlear cultures with designated reporters, endogenous gene expression and effects on endogenous signal transduction pathways; in vivo testing of drug candidates in rodents.

Instrumentation:
- Li-cor Odyssey: detects fluorescence, quantifies the signal, very sensitive up to several magnitudes, used to quantify individual bands to compare to loading control

Sample requirements:

  • If the experiment is started from cell lines or from our own lysate, we can guarantee a high quality of lysate. If the researcher is providing their own lysate, they must use protease inhibitors and phosphatase inhibitors when making the lysate.

  • Samples should be sent as tissue or pellet, and should be frozen quickly (1-2 seconds) in liquid nitrogen, then shipped on dry ice.


Deliverables:
- report with two parts: three kinds of color images (loading control, protein expression band, composite of the two), plus quantification of each individual band in each lane, as well as the ratio of the expression band to the loading control (not just the raw data)
- samples returned upon request (they are kept in -80oC or -20oC as appropriate, and can be sent back using a dry ice shipment)
